Seed Grant and Clinical Scholar Research Programs
The Seed Grant and Clinical Scholar Research Programs sponsored by The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry are designed to advance the careers of our faculty by providing the opportunity to collect preliminary data for extramurally sponsored grant applications (Seed) and/or pursue scholarly activity (Clinical Scholar). Awards are typically from $5,000 to $25,000.
Seed Grant Program
The Seed Grant Program will support Principal Investigators (PIs) pursuing new areas of research that may generate preliminary data for an extramural sponsored grant application(s).
The Seed Grant Program is intended to support initial stages of new research projects, with a special emphasis on innovative, interdisciplinary, and collaborative projects that advance a research project to the point at which it can attract external funding. The applicant must clearly and convincingly demonstrate that the proposed project represents a new research direction and, therefore, requires seed funding under this program to successfully compete for extramural funds to support the project long term. Ideal projects include work that develops new methods, applies theories or methods to new substantive areas, or translates between previously unrelated theoretical perspectives.
Applicant eligibility
Applicants must be full-time (> 75% FTE) associated track, clinical track or clinical scholar tenure track faculty at the time of application. The PI must be from the College of Dentistry and collaborators can be from other Colleges. Only one proposal per applicant will be accepted in any application cycle.
Clinical Scholar Research Program
The Clinical Scholar Research Program will support clinical faculty to advance their careers by funding research projects for the purpose of publishing in peer-reviewed journals. This program is intended to support research, with a special emphasis on innovative, interdisciplinary, and collaborative projects. The applicant must clearly and convincingly demonstrate that the proposed project represents research leading toward peer-reviewed publication(s). Ideal projects include work that develops new methods, applies theories or methods to new substantive areas - or translates between previously unrelated theoretical perspectives.
