Mason M. Colón, BSDH, MDH, EFDA

Mason M. Colón is an Assistant Professor - Practice in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology & the Division of Dental Hygiene, at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He received both his MDH & BSDH degrees from The Ohio State University. During his MDH program, he served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Division of Dental Hygiene. During his BSDH program, he completed a specialization in education and received certification as an 'Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary' (EFDA). 

In August of 2021, Mason joined the Division of Dental Hygiene as a part - time clinical instructor, while continuing to work in private practice. Since joining, he has served as Interim Assistant Clinic Director (May 2023 - December 2023), designing resources and assisting in the authorship of the program's Dental Hygiene Clinic Manual. Mason has taught a variety of online didactic courses for both the MSDH & BSDH dental hygiene programs. Course subjects have included dental hygiene education, and clinical teaching in dental hygiene. In August of 2023, he joined the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology, working with dental and dental hygiene students in Oral & Maxillofacial Imaging.

Since joining The Ohio State University faculty in 2021, Mason has received both 'Outstanding Instructor' awards, as well as Student Government Teaching Awards. 

Mason has been involved in the Columbus component of the American Dental Hygiene Association, serving as their treasurer for two consecutive terms (July 2019 - June 2023), and as a registered member. He currently serves as a returning author for The Ohio State University College of Dentistry Sterilization Monitoring Service, writing a variety of continuing education articles.
