Dr. Joen M. Iannucci is a Professor of Clinical Dentistry in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. She received her BS degree in Chemistry from the University of Miami (FL) and both her DDS and MS degrees from The Ohio State University. In addition, she completed a two-year training program and residency in Oral Pathology and Radiology.
Since joining The Ohio State University faculty in 1987, Dr. Iannucci has received a total of 51 Outstanding Instructor and Student Government Teaching Awards as well as the Postle Teaching Award and The Ohio State University 2020 Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching.
Dr. Iannucci has held a number of administrative positions at the College of Dentistry. From 1996-2011, Dr. Iannucci served the College as the Director of the Sterilization Monitoring Service. From 2004-2011, she served as the Director of Recruitment and Admissions, and, as the Director of the Ed Maag Screening Clinic from 2004-2009. From 2014-2015, she served as the Interim Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Program. From 2020-2023, Dr. Iannucci served as the Clinic Director for Dental Hygiene. She is currently the Chair of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, the Director of the Sterilization Monitoring Service and the Director of Continuing Dental Education.
Dr. Iannucci is a former columnist for RDH MAGAZINE and has contributed over 200 oral pathology case study articles. She is the author of two textbooks - RADIOGRAPHIC INTERPRETATION FOR THE DENTAL HYGIENIST (1993) and DENTAL RADIOGRAPHY: PRINCIPLES AND TECHNIQUES (six editions --- 1996, 2000, 2006, 2012, 2017, 2022), and, DENTAL RADIOGRAPHY: A WORKBOOK AND LABORATORY MANUAL (2017, 2023). The Dental Radiography text is published in English, Spanish, Korean and Portuguese, and is the top seller in its market with over 290,000 copies sold.
Dr. Iannucci has presented a variety of numerous continuing dental education courses at the national, regional, state and local levels. Over the years, Dr. Iannucci has taught numerous didactic, clinical and online courses for the DDS program as well as the BSDH and MDH dental hygiene programs. Course subjects have included oral radiology, oral pathology, integrated dental hygiene science, dental hygiene education, and clinical teaching in dental hygiene.
